Maxime Colin (Kraainem, Belgium)
Maxime Colin is the gastronomic restaurant of the two brothers Maxime and Gaëtan Colin. The restaurant opened in February 2016 and is located in Kraainem, in the ‘Parc du Château Jourdain’, where restaurant d’Oude Pastorie was previously located. The former vicarage is dating from the 17th century and situated in a beautiful park with a great view on the lake just in front.
When the weather permits, guests can enjoy the terrace just in front of the restaurant. A perfect way to start your meal! The interior is classic but with a modern twist. Several dining rooms connect to each other, making it possible to host different types of events at the restaurant as well.
The Chef & The Food
Gaëtan and Maxime Colin gained experience in famous restaurants in Brussels like Jaloa and Villa Loraine. At their restaurant Maxime Colin they want to make a bridge between ‘bistronomy’ and ‘fine dining’. Maxime is responsible for the food and Gaëtan for the general management of the restaurant. Today, chef Maxime offers a kitchen where he starts from a classical base, with high-quality products without exaggerating, presented in a modern way. He is free from any constraints that he knew when working in other restaurants, and this results in an original, flavourful kitchen.
For lunch, guest can choose between a well-priced 2 or 3 course lunch (25-28 €). For dinner, a menu in 3, 5 or 6 services is available (47, 65, 80 €). We visited the restaurant in May 2016 and had the 6 course menu:
Crisp with Parmesan, cream of black olive and anchovy
Egg filled with cappuccino of eel and green herbs
Langoustines, peas, mint, tomatoes
Crab, green apple, wasabi, daikon
Asparagus, Beurre Noisette, curdled ewe, lovage, Poilane bread
Sweetbread, green chartreuse, root vegetables, cream sauce
Iced Vacherin, exotic fruits, yoghurt, chocolate, cardamom
The “Belgian Taste Buds” Experience
With Maxime Colin the brothers Colin took the next step in their culinary adventure. The unique location near Brussels is an important advantage and combined with the experience of the two brothers, this restaurant bodes well. Our menu was well balanced, rich in flavors, and combined classical products and preparation techniques with modern touches and a laid-back atmosphere. Great start guys!
