Les Eleveurs (Halle)
This place is run by Sofie Dumont (kitchen) and Andy De Brouwer (sommelier and service). Sofie received the title of “Lady Chef of the Year 2009” (Food from Britain Association) and recently started with a program on Belgian television, as well as publishing several cooking books.
We enjoyed one of the set menus (6 courses) and recall the courses were good, but not very surprising. One of the combinations (guacamole with scallop) was not very successful as it was really too sour, but the cheeses were of great quality. Here are some pictures from Houbi on Flickr:
Unfortunately I don’t have any notes on the wines. (For the record, they were certainly not bad.)
The “Belgian Taste Buds” Experience
We enjoyed a pleasant evening where everything was positive and agreeable, without having any “Wow-feelings”.
We enjoyed this diner with a Business Club Gold card which grants a 50 % discount on the food. Therefore, we only paid +-100 euro for 2 persons, all included. However, I think this place is a bit pricy if you pay the full deal.
