Le Délice du Jour (Gerpinnes, Belgium)
Le Délice du Jour is the culinary restaurant of Chef Fabrizio Chirico and his wife Sanae Chergui. The restaurant can be found in Gerpinnes, not so far from Charleroi. It is housed in a renovated villa across the busy, but very accessible, Chaussée de Philippeville. The restaurant is awarded with a 16/20 score in the Gault&Millau guide.
The interior of the restaurant is contemporary, with lots of wood, and warm decoration elements. When the weather permits, the cosy terrace opens and guests can enjoy the culinary delights on the terrace.
The Chef & The food
Chef Fabrizio Chirico graduated from the Hotel School in Fleurus in 1994 and gained experience at several restaurants in Brussels and Knokke. In 1995, he opened le Délice du Jour and started with a Franco-Italian cuisine. The restaurant was transformed several times and went to a fine dining restaurant in 2011. In 2015, Fabrizio was elected as young chef of the year by Gault&Millau.
Fabrizio cooks from his heart, starting with a French base, but with modern, creative touches. Regional products are very important and incorporated into the dishes as much as possible. The chef is also part of ‘Génération W’, an organization that promotes the chefs and culinary delights from the Walloon area in Belgium.
