Green – Dining in the forest (Langdorp)
Restaurant Green is a located in the middle of the forest of Langdorp (Aarschot). It is part of the complex ‘Gasthof Ter Venne’, where you can also find a banquet hall, a bar and other party facilities.
Gaby Van den Broeck is the chef in restaurant Green/Ter Venne for more than 30 years. She’s using fresh, unique and home made products and is not afraid to use the latest trends and techniques.
The food in restaurant Green is creative, and the chef uses modern and original techniques to prepare and present his dishes.
Scallop / mushroom / foie
Cappuccino / Game croquette
Razor / oyster / yellow fin
Lobster / celery broth
Wild duck / mango / pomegranate
Roe / vanilla / Arabica chocolate / vegetables
Cheese: Granada padano / reggiano / parmesan
Amarula / raspberry / tangerine
Coffee & sweets
The restaurant offers wine or beer pairings, and has an extensive selection of wines, liquors and beers. The sommelier clearly knows his craft and serves the drinks with style.
Our night started with a great Cava, and we enjoyed a satisfying wine pairing arrangement with our menu. We ended the menu with a tasteful Belgian beer (Tripel Geuze), which can also be used as an aperitif. Unfortunately I didn’t take any other detailed notes on the drinks.
The “Belgian Taste Buds” Experience
This was our second visit to restaurant Green, and we felt that the restaurant maintained a very good price/quality ratio. The food, however, was somewhat better the first time as we felt the chef tried to incorporate too much flavors, techniques and ingredients in his dishes this time. Dishes could have been better if less ingredients were used, and if the focus was put on the intensity of the flavors rather than on the amount of flavors & ingredients.
