De Oesterput – Seafood heaven (Blankenberge)
‘De Oesterput’ is a phenomenon at the Belgian coast. Located in Blankenberge, this restaurant offers fresh seafood at its finest.
It’s located in an old fish wholesale barn in the industrial area of Blankenberge, only a few meters from the port. Customers eat at long tables in an informal, straightforward setting.
Piet Devriendt owns and manages the restaurant since 1986. The restaurant got very popular in a short time because of its fresh, delicious seafood selection and a great price-quality ratio.
Seafood is the star in De oesterput. Oysters imported directly from France, lobsters are cultivated in the restaurant and imported from Halifax in Canada. Fresh fish arrives daily from Zeebrugge.
One of the signature dishes is the seafood platter Royale: a giant platter with oysters, shrimps, whelks, different types of crab, gambas, scallops, winkles, langoustine, lobster, razors…
It is served with bread and a homemade cocktail sauce. Everything is incredible fresh and pure – seafood at its best!
Our platter came with a bottle of Moët champagne, a great match with the fresh seafood!
