De Kapblok (Dilbeek)
De Kapblok is a small restaurant in Dilbeek, near Brussels. A regular house on a regular (busy) road where the family Leemans-Van Schepdael is cooking in a personal and familiar way.
That the owners are proud on their family is very clear once you see the interior, which is packed with family photos and other gadgets.
Chef Peter Leemans worked in restaurants like “Comme Chez Soi” and serves an honest and slightly traditional cuisine.
We ordered a degustation menu on 31/03/2011 and enjoyed traditional, honest and tasteful dishes. The French cuisine is the basis here and innovation is entering at a slow speed.
We don’t have many notes on the wines but I do recall we were not surprised by any of the wines.
The “Belgian Taste Buds” Experience
This is a place where you can have a good and correct dinner in a familiar atmosphere, without too many frills or creative/surprising elements.
We enjoyed this diner with a Business Club Gold card which grants a 50 % discount on the food. Therefore, we only paid +-100 euro for 2 persons, all included. However, I think this place is a bit pricy if you pay the full deal.
